Job Description

Our manufacturing client near Locust Grove is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their growing engineering group.


This role will be responsible for the design and development of new products and will include research and development of ideas and processes for new products, update of existing products and overseeing production and packaging of the final products.


Responsibilities

  • Design/develop detailed electrical/electronic and mechanical products from components, sub-assembly, full assembly to final packaging.
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Lead new product development milestones from conceptual design, prototype, Engineering Sample Lot (ESL), Manufacturing Sample Lot (MSL), to production.
  • Be diligent and timely with engineering drawings revisions & design changes control system.
  • Develop realistic practical reliability endurance testing for each electrical/electronic and mechanical products through new product development milestones, to ensure product safety & regulatory compliance with durability & reliability.
  • Work with Quality Engineering to develop on-going product compliance testing for each manufacturing lot before shipment.
  • Work with Manufacturing/Production Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Purchasing in supporting Design-to-Value (DTV) and to improve production cost on annual basis.
  • Quality Engineers and Manufacturing/Production Engineers in driving root cause analysis & corrective actions for product quality issues.
  • Keep up product safety regulatory compliance certificates, and work with Quality Engineers to support ISO 9001 Compliance/Audit & customers on-site product inspection/system audits.


Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering or equivalent Degree.
  • 5 years of electrical/electronic and mechanical product design, 
  • Experience with associated manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal fabrication, plastic molding, welding, electronic manufacturing service, assembly .) and DFM (design for manufacturing).
  • Proficient in CAD 3D modeling & 2D drawing development with detailed solid GD&T experience.
  • Hands-on New Product Development knowledge/experiences from concept through to production.
  • Solid experience with electrical, electronic, and mechanical product reliability/endurance testing 
  • Safety, regulatory & compliance knowledge.
  • Knowledge/experience of Electronic Manufacturing Service (EMS) industry, PCB-A control module, and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) design, development & manufacturing is a plus.
  • Experience applying DOE (design of experiment) in electrical/electronic/mechanical system parameter design Optimization.
